Welcome to Benfield Appliance Repair

Launched as (BAR) Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC on May 1st, 2017, Kurt and Jill Benfield will embark on their first family owned and operated business in Hickory, NC. The Benfields are a husband and wife team, and are trained professionals in the community. Kurt Benfield, Class of `85 ~ Bandys High School, holds 21 years of experience locally, in the appliance service industry, while Jill Benfield, an Alumnus of Lenoir-Rhyne University with her BA, has put her focus and experience in marketing and banking. Kurt and Jill are proud to have been born and raised by pillars of both the Catawba & Caldwell communities and take pride in calling Hickory/Mountain View, North Carolina, their home.

While serving the Catawba Valley area for over 21 years as an employee of Sunrise Appliance, Kurt Benfield has established himself as a well known and trusted member of the community. Kurt is factory trained and up to date on the latest innovations in home appliances and appliance repair training, and has access to the technical information required to service today's highly complex "standard" and "hi-end" machines. Kurt regularly attends appliance repair training seminars on new products and continuously updates his technical knowledge. Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC will service all major brands of appliances including Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, LG, Samsung, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Miele, Thermador, Viking and Bosch, as well as all gas fireplaces, logs, inserts and space heaters. Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC (BAR) will service the following counties: Catawba, Caldwell, Burke, Alexander, Lincoln & Cleveland and a portion of Avery, "based upon approval".

Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC will use the latest technology to assist in diagnosing and repairing your appliance problems. Kurt currently holds the title of, "Legacy Technician" at Appliantology.org, and is also a member of an elite, by-invitation-only group of appliance repair technicians across the country, who speak with each other during the day via Voxer. Kurt has earned the ability to access a library's worth of facts and the advice of 8-10 top-notch professionals at any given moment while repairing appliances. Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC will also conserve our environment by eliminating paper invoices by using the latest technologies for service providers in the field.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What are your rates?
(BAR) Benfield Appliance Repair, LLC does not charge an hourly rate like a plumber or an electrician. Instead, we use as national flat rate guide which is a standard in the industry. It is called "The Original Blue Book Major Appliance Job Rate Guide" - Online Version. This allows us to quote you and exact price, up front, after diagnosis, before any work is performed.

Our "Service Charge" falls under Tier I and Tier II pricing. Tier I pricing is applied for Standard Appliances = $99.95 plus 7% NC/Catawba County Sales Tax. Tier II pricing is applied for "Hi-end" and/or "built-in" appliances, stacked laundry appliances and all gas appliances, gas lines and gas logs = $129.95 plus 7% NC/Catawba County Sales Tax. This fee includes our trip to your home and the diagnosis of your problem. After diagnosis is completed and you agree to the repair, we will factor in the service charge into the final fee. This final invoice will be the sum of the service charge + parts + labor + tax.

How does the flat rate guide work?
The Online Blue Book Guide is an extensive database of all the possible repairs that can be done on major appliances. It takes in to account a variety of factors such as parts, time and labor, special equipment, predictable and unpredictable circumstances surrounding specific jobs, inventory management, education/training, office staff, advertising, insurances, travel time to and from the customer's home and all service vehicle expenses.

The benefit to the customer of such a system is full transparency in the pricing procedure and the ability to make an informed decision by knowing the exact cost of the job ahead of time. There are no hidden fees, no charge for extra time and no charge for additional trips. This method of pricing protects our customers.

Can you quote me a price over the phone?
Diagnosis is something that can only be done in person, and diagnosis is the first step in determining the price of a repair. There are far too many variables to be able to give an accurate diagnosis or price over the phone. We want to be sure we are giving you 100% accurate information and for this reason, it is our policy to only quote a price once our appliance technician has diagnosed your problem in person.

Are your repairs guaranteed?
All of our repairs are backed by a 90-Day guarantee on labor. Any parts used will have their individual manufacturer's warranty.

What type of payment do you accept?
"BAR" accepts cash, local bank personal checks, and all major credit and debit cards. Visa, MasterCard, American Express & Discover. We will process your card payment on the spot using RazorSync: Merchant Resource Center Processing. We do not store your card numbers.

Can you send me a bill?
We do not use an invoicing service so we request that payment is made when the job is complete. To make this as convenient as possible, we accept cash, local checks, credit cards and debit cards. A receipt will be issued via e-mail immediately at the time of payment and/or printed on site by our Appliance Technician.

Do you sell new or used appliances?
Our focus is appliance repair and do not sell new or used appliances. If we deem your appliance is beyond repair, we will suggest a local retail appliance store for purchases.

Do you sell parts?
We do not stock parts for resale, only for repairs.

Do you service (HVAC) central heating and air units? Or do any plumbing?
No, only gas fireplaces, logs, inserts and space heaters. We'll be happy to refer you to the appropriate contractors.
